Everyone knows that Manitou is a little "different". It is one of the reasons Jesse and I love living here. So in the spirit of embracing this town we live in, the Marbles have decided to embark on a great Manitou Springs tradition, The Coffin Races!
This year will be the 14th annual coffin race in memory of Emma Crawford. In 1890, the 19 year old resident of Manitou Springs died of tuberculosis and was burried on the top of Manitou's own Red Mountain . However, after one too many rainy seasons, Emma was washed down the mountain in her coffin. So....Manitou Springs has created a coffin race in her memory! As it is our first year in Manitou, we decided to head full force into this years race as team "coughin". Our four runners will be dressed as doctors, and our "Emma" in the coffin will be a coughin' patient.
